So often guide books lack in depth information though they promise to cover all. This one really does and it’s extremely clear, complete and easy to follow.

Some of the topics covered in depth are web surfing, customizing and configuring the Nook, shopping, tips about shopping on B&N, what you can read and notate and what does not notate. It covers such things as lending and borrowing books as well as social features, how to use the Library. where to find other ebooks, as well as managing ebooks with Calibre.

I love my Nook for reading, but want to root it as well(be able to use it in a basic Android mode without destroying it). Instructions here are clear and easy to follow including where to find the files needed to root it and the different ways it can be rooted.

It seems a lot of people have both Nooks and Kindles and if I had I would have gotten the Kindle version because then you don’t have to fight holding the book open while referring to it while working with the Nook. That said, the paperback edition is well constructed and very reasonable priced given the wealth of information in it.

    A great book, BUT, September 2, 2011

Purchasing my Nook Color AFTER purchasing this book, I was really looking forward to rooting it from the microsd card as described in chapter 10. However after several minutes searching for the referenced site in the book to download the necessary files, and even being unsuccessful at locating the author’s website, I am extremely disappointed that the site referenced does not exist.
Having taught computer programming and beginning to program my on Android applications I was looking forward to seeing my apps on my nook Color. Guess I’ll have to figure out another way, unless someone can help me find the download file.

The book itself is written very clearly and is very thorough, even explaining how to use Calibre in chapter 19 to convert other e-book formats to epub format, for use on the nook, which was very straightforward.

All in all, the book is very good, I was just disappointed that what I really wanted, to root my nook without voiding the warrenty, led to a brick wall.

I would highly recommend the book for new nook Color owners.
